Summer Home Tour 2018

P.S. This caddy is from Pottery Barn along with the “Bambi”mug and “Fred” the snowman mug. The 2 tiny snowman mugs on the top tier are from Sur la Table. I have this caddy parked next to our Jura Espresso machine and it was so fun to be able to make a special cup of coffee for friends who stopped in for a visit. It was created to be a wonderful, peaceful environment for large family gatherings. You will see an amazing collection of sconces throughout the home that were saved from Opera Houses and Grand Theatres from around the world. This home is a wonderful and peaceful retreat.

The creative designs and renovations made by the owners and their daughter can be seen as soon as one walks into the house . There are wonderful mementos of time spent living all over the globe and the delightful mix of the new with the old creates an inviting home for all to visit. Hi Laura, it looks like we’re on the same page with roof replacement and bath makeover! I love that picture of you, such a nice background.

Each year we decorate a live tree in between the heart of our home, the kitchen and the family room. We have lived here over three years and I’ve never placed garland over the sink. So I’m thrilled that I finally did!

Was very nice to see your lovely home, thanks for giving us a peek inside. Merry Christmas to you and your family. It is a noble fir and it is a real tree.

I love it, every vignette just recalls beautiful summer memories. Your yard looks amazing and your fabulous table set with a love tea is stunning. Thanks so much for joining the tours, your home is always such a delight and I love your attention to every detail. I don’t like a lot of random stuff around.

Seaside Mantel

I’m on the hunt for a good one and if you can point me to something cool, I’d be so excited!! Jesus is the reason for the season after all and I want the Christmas story and birth of Jesus to take center stage in our home. At the entry of our house was this mailbox – the kids had alot of fun hiding things in there.

I purchased it locally from a small tree farm in Boise off Ustick Rd, East of Cloverdale Rd. We had a real tree this year after years with a fake one. It was a grand tree – measured at 11 feet and we knew right away it was our tree when we spotted it in the tree lot. One hundred percent of ticket sales from the home tour are distributed to local charities and organizations.

I filled it with seeded eucalyptus and mini white pumpkins. Those 2 things are all you really need for elegant fall decor. In the family room, I have the most amazing display of seasonal flowers. I got to take them home from an event I attended in NYC with Ashely furniture. I was all too happy stuffing them into the Uber with me. When we renovated the kitchen, I updated our old table and chairs.

Your home is so beautiful and cozy! We had real trees for 8 years, lived at my moms over last Christmas and she has a fake one. We bought a fake one at Costco this year and I will never go back! We have a fluffy rug in our living room and the last thing I needed was needles in it.

Past Tours

Today I am sharing several rooms for this Christmas Home Tour. If you are stopping by from Z Design at Home, welcome! Oh Laura, I think this seaside theme is my favorite.

I started my decorating the day before Thanksgiving and it turned out just as dreamy as I had hoped. I want to add more festive decor every year until we are officially the Christmas house (good thing there’s plenty of storage!). I added a thrift store lemon tree to the cabinet above our built-ins. It is an easy touch to add the summer season in this space. With every decorating post I share, I want to encourage you to not stress about it. The worst thing that could happen is that you don’t like it and then you adjust things in a new way to see what you really love.

Seagrass chargers set the tone for this simple place setting. She is surrounded by sea glass, shells and floats layered on a vintage French metis runner. The formal dining area also features an aquatic theme. Across the room from the hutch is the fireplace mantel. The green hutch was filled with neutral dishes accented with faux summery greenery. In the entry area, I selected a neutral seaside themed color palette.

Amazingly enough, I didn’t purchase anything new for this tour I just reused existing accessories in a new way. A good example is the curly willow branches last seen as a fall centerpiece. Previous summer tours can be seen HERE and HERE. With such a packed schedule planned I wanted clean and cool vignettes that are easy to care for in our open plan entry, living and dining areas. The summer season is going to be just as busy.
